Unclaimed funds are funds turned over to the County Treasurer's Office from County departments for owners who are entitled to the money, but who have failed to claim ownership of it. Often times, uncashed checks are due to incorrect or incomplete mailing addresses. Some examples of unclaimed funds are:

  • Jury Duty checks
  • Overpayment refunds
  • Vendor payments
  • Deposits
  • Overpaid Court Fees

These items are published in the Wausau Daily Herald and through the County's website in every odd-numbered year.

State of Wisconsin Unclaimed Property

If you believe that you are owed money, it may not be with Marathon County. It could be listed with the State of Wisconsin. See the State website for Unclaimed Property.
