Some of that trail mileage is shared with snowshoe user. Biking is prohibited on all cross country ski trails except for special events and designated trail crossings. Trail courtesy dictates that bikers should yield to individuals using snowshoes and skiing. When riding at night you must wear a light.

Welcome to Marathon County, the largest county in the state with 28 snowmobile clubs and over 700 miles of scenic Central Wisconsin trails. We hope you will enjoy the many miles we have to offer. Please ride responsibly, as many of our trails go through private property. Please respect the landowners who have allowed our trails through their property and respect the work the clubs have done by staying on the trail.
For current regulations regarding snowmobile usage, please visit the Wisconsin DNR Snowmobile Website. Reminder to all that 55 MPH is the night time speed limit everywhere in Wisconsin.
All individuals riding state trails must purchase the annual trail pass sold by the Wisconsin DNR. Click here for more information on DNR State Trail Passes

Snowmobile Program Clubs and Contacts
All Marathon County Snowmobile trails are maintained by area snowmobile clubs. Those clubs work with the county and each other through cooperative efforts with the Marathon County Snowmobile Council. A listing of county contacts, Marathon County Snowmobile Council Members, Zone Representatives, and all club contacts can be found in our Snowmobile Program Contact page.
Please remember that the trail system would not be there without the cooperation of your area clubs and landowners. Leaving a designated trail and/or snowmobiling on someone’s property without permission is trespassing. The landowners and snowmobile club's make it happen, show your appreciation by riding responsibly and staying on the marked trails. Thank you all landowners for allowing trails on your property.
An invitation from the Marathon County Snowmobile Clubs:
