Permits are issued for a specific County Forest unit where there has been a recent timber sale or on occasion where the customer has observed dead and down timber. Permits are typically good for 90 days and for up to five cords of wood. Call the Park Office at 715.261.1550 and ask for Joe Tucker, County Forester to check on availability. The permits cost $30. A refundable $50 key deposit applies at some locations to gain access beyond the gate off of the parking lot. If a location is determined the forester will write up a cutting permit. The customer would stop by the Park Office, sign the permit, pay the fee and key deposit. Bring the make, model, color, and license plate of the vehicle you will have on site at the county forest unit while making wood. Use of motorized vehicles, tractors, or ATV/UTV's to assist in the processing of wood is not permitted.
